Urban Education Advocates Consult
Educational Consultant
As a teacher, instructional leader, and adjunct professor, Dr. Nia Ladson brings deep experience from K–12 classrooms, school leadership, and higher education to support educators and leaders across the country—especially those working in urban schools.

About Our Founder
In 2020, during one of the most unprecedented global shutdowns in modern history, Dr. Nia Ladson launched Urban Education Advocates to provide meaningful support for teachers and leaders—especially those serving predominantly Black and Brown students in urban communities across the nation. Her vision was to foster connection, equity, and excellence by bridging research, practice, and people-centered leadership.
Dr. Ladson brings over a decade of experience in education, beginning with her early exposure to schools through her mother’s work and extending through formal training with Baltimore City Public Schools and the Urban Teachers program (now City Teaching Alliance). Through this residency-based program, she earned two M.Ed. degrees from Lesley University—one in Special Education and another in Elementary Education.
She also holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Loyola University Maryland and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University, with a concentration in Educational Administration and Superintendency.
Since 2017, Dr. Ladson has taught graduate students as an adjunct professor, first through Johns Hopkins University in partnership with Urban Teachers, and now through American University’s School of Education. She is certified in both Elementary and Special Education, and holds Administration I and II licenses in Maryland, as well as Teacher, Special Education, and Administrator certifications in Texas.
Professionally, she has served in a number of leadership roles at KIPP Texas Public Schools, including Manager of Curriculum and Achievement for K–8 ELA and Content Leader for Grades 3–10 ELA Academic Recovery. She currently serves as Senior Director of Secondary Humanities Curriculum and Instruction (Grades 6–12) at KIPP Texas, while also leading as Founder and CEO of Urban Education Advocates and serving as an Adjunct Professor at American University.
Dr. Nia Ladson is driven by a belief that every child deserves access to transformative teaching—and that every educator deserves the tools and support to make that vision a reality.
